LiteraryBlueprint is TheNovelistPro's proprietary narrative structure system. It helps you define your story's architecture — plot arcs, turning points, pacing, and tension — creating a framework that both you and the AI reference throughout the writing process.

Do I need to write prompts to use the AI features?

No. TheNovelistPro automatically provides context to the AI based on your project — including character profiles, plot lines, chapter content, and narrative structure. When you ask for help, the AI already understands your story.

Which AI providers does TheNovelistPro support?

TheNovelistPro integrates with Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and local Ollama instances. You choose which provider to use. A built-in consent dialog shows exactly what creative content is shared with each provider.

Is my creative work private and secure?

Yes. All manuscripts are stored locally on your device. When AI features are used, the transparent consent dialog shows exactly what content is shared and with which provider. No user content is collected for AI model training.

How much does TheNovelistPro cost?

TheNovelistPro offers a 3-month free trial with no credit card required. After the trial, subscriptions are 4.99 EUR per month or 39 EUR per year. Available on the Mac App Store.

What platforms is TheNovelistPro available on?

1. OUR PRIVACY PHILOSOPHY

TheNovelistPro is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your creative work belongs to you and you alone.

In short: We don't collect your data.

The Application operates entirely on your device. We have no servers, no user accounts, no analytics systems, and no way to access your content or personal information.

2. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

To be completely transparent:

- We do not collect your manuscripts, stories, or any creative content
- We do not collect your characters, plots, scenes, or narrative elements
- We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information
- We do not collect usage analytics or behavioral data
- We do not collect crash reports or diagnostic data
- We do not collect your location, contacts, or any other device data
- We do not have user accounts or registration systems
- We do not have servers that store or process your information

3. HOW THE APPLICATION WORKS

3.1 Local Storage Only

All your content (manuscripts, projects, characters, plots, notes) is stored:

- Locally on your Mac
- In folders you choose within your file system
- Under your complete control

We have no technical means to access this content.

3.2 No Account Required

TheNovelistPro does not require registration or user accounts. You download the app, subscribe through Apple, and start working. We never know who you are.

4. SUBSCRIPTION AND PAYMENTS

Your subscription is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store.

- Apple processes all payments
- Apple stores your payment information
- Apple manages subscription renewals and cancellations

We do not receive your payment details, billing address, or any financial information from Apple. We only know that a valid subscription exists on your device — not who owns it.

5. THIRD-PARTY AI SERVICES

5.1 Optional AI Features

TheNovelistPro can integrate with third-party AI services to provide writing assistance. These services are:

- Anthropic (Claude)
- OpenAI
- Ollama (runs locally on your device)

Using AI features is entirely optional. The Application works fully without them.

5.2 Explicit Consent Required

The Application requires your explicit consent before sending any data to cloud-based AI services (Anthropic or OpenAI). This consent is requested upon first use of cloud AI features through a dedicated in-app dialog that clearly identifies:

(a) What data is sent
(b) Who receives the data
(c) How the data is handled

You must explicitly accept before any data is transmitted. If you decline, you can still use Ollama (fully local AI) — no data leaves your device. You can revoke your consent at any time from the Application settings.

Ollama (local AI) does not require consent as no data ever leaves your device.

5.3 What Data Is Sent

When you explicitly choose to use a cloud AI feature, the following data may be transmitted to the selected AI provider:

- The text of your chat messages
- If "Include document context" is enabled in settings: portions of your current document text (scene content, chapter text)
- Project metadata (title, genre, language) included in the AI system prompt
- Custom AI commands and prompts you have configured

This data consists exclusively of creative content (manuscripts, articles, notes) that you write. No personal identification data, account information, device data, or usage analytics are ever collected or transmitted.

5.4 Who Receives the Data

Depending on the AI provider you select in your project settings:

Anthropic (Claude):
- Data sent: Text of your messages and optional document context
- Data recipient: Anthropic, PBC

Ollama (Local):
- Data sent: None (model runs locally on your Mac)
- Data recipient: None
- Privacy Policy: Not applicable (everything is local)

5.5 AI Training Policy

Both Anthropic and OpenAI explicitly state that data sent through their APIs is NOT used to train or improve their AI models. This applies specifically to API access, which is how TheNovelistPro communicates with these services. API data may be retained by each provider for up to 30 days solely for abuse monitoring purposes, then automatically deleted. Your creative works are never used for AI training.

5.6 Transparency and User Control

- Every message sent to AI is fully visible in the chat interface
- You can inspect the complete context sent with each request
- All AI prompts are customizable in your project settings
- You can disable "Include document context" in AI Settings
- You can switch to Ollama (local) at any time for fully offline AI
- You can revoke AI data sharing consent at any time in Settings
- Nothing is transmitted automatically without your explicit action

5.7 Your API Keys

If you use your own API keys for AI services:

- Keys are stored locally on your device only
- Keys are saved in macOS Keychain (encrypted by the system)
- Keys are never transmitted to us
- You are responsible for managing and protecting your keys

5.8 Fully Private Option

If you want AI assistance with complete privacy, use Ollama. It runs AI models locally on your Mac, so no data ever leaves your device.

6. SUPPORT COMMUNICATIONS

If you contact us at support@thenovelistpro.com for support:

- We will receive your email address and message content
- We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry
- We do not add you to marketing lists
- We retain support emails for up to 36 months to provide better assistance

This is the only situation where we may receive personal information from you — and only because you voluntarily send it to us.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Since we don't collect personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete. However, if you have contacted us for support and wish to:

- Access any information from your communications with us
- Request deletion of your support emails
- Ask questions about your privacy

7.3 Deletion
You can delete all data at any time:
1. Uninstall the App from Finder
2. Delete ~/Library/Application Support/TheNovelistPro/
3. Delete API keys from Keychain Access
4. Delete your .tnp files

7.4 Rectification
All data is under your direct control — modify it whenever you want.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

TheNovelistPro is rated 4+ (everyone can use it):
- No inappropriate content
- No data collection from minors
- Safe for all ages

Since we don't collect any data, we cannot knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children.

9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

If we change our practices (for example, if we introduce features that involve data collection), we will update this Privacy Policy and notify users through the Application.

Any significant changes will be communicated before they take effect. Changes will be effective 30 days after publication.
